How to present a car

This guide is for the United Kingdom.

Overview

Presenting a car starts with a conversation. Tell the desk what you have, and the desk arranges the photographs, documents and inspection before the car is offered privately.

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • The car's details: make, model, year and chassis number
  • Its mileage, if you know it
  • The documents that establish provenance
  • A note of its condition, including any faults
  • At least 4 photographs, or an appointment for the desk to take them

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Sign In or Create Account

  1. Go to offr.bid
  2. Click "Sign In" in the top right
  3. If you're new, click "Sign Up" and create your account
  4. Verify your email address

Step 2: Start the Conversation

  1. Sign in, then open your dashboard and choose Present a car
  2. Or sign in through this link, which takes you to the form: /sign-in?next=/dashboard/owner/listings/new

Step 3: Tell the Desk About the Car

Give the desk:

  • Make and model
  • Year
  • Chassis number
  • Mileage, if known
  • Origin — where the car has come from
  • Condition notes, including anything that needs attention

Step 4: Photographs

Photographs are usually taken by appointment, with the desk. If you take your own:

Tips for Good Photographs:

  • Shoot in daylight, out of direct glare
  • Photograph the full car, from a three-quarter angle
  • Show the interior, the engine bay and the odometer
  • Include the details that matter: badges, wheels, trim, any marks
  • Keep the car clean and the background clear
  • Use landscape orientation (horizontal)

Photo Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 photographs
  • Each photograph under 10MB
  • Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG or WebP

Using Your Phone:

  • Open the car in your dashboard and use the photo uploader
  • Photographs are resized in your browser before upload

Step 5: The Description

Write the desk a short account of the car. Include:

  • Its history, as far as you know it
  • Recent work and servicing
  • Its condition, including any faults
  • Anything that makes this example worth a specialist's time

Example: "Two owners from new, service book stamped, original tools present. Recent belts and fluids. Honest interior, with a small mark on the driver's seat, photographed. Inspection welcome."

Step 6: Set the Window

Choose how long the car is offered privately: 7 or 14 days. The clock starts when the car goes live, and the closing date is shown with the car.

Step 7: Review and Submit

  1. Review the details, the documents and the photographs with the desk
  2. Make sure at least 4 photographs are attached
  3. Submit the car for presentation

The desk reviews everything before the car is offered. If something is missing, the desk comes back to you.

What Happens Next?

Three steps: list, proposals, chooseThree numbered limestone plates left to right, joined by arrows: 1 list, 2 proposals, 3 choose.123
  1. List

Submit your listing; it goes live after approval.

  2. Proposals

Verified agents nearby bid within 24–48 hours; compare side-by-side.

  3. Choose

    Accept the best bid.

Once the car is live:

  1. Verified buyers view it privately, by appointment
  2. Sealed offers arrive before the closing date
  3. You read every offer after the closing date
  4. Message buyers with questions
  5. Accept one offer, or none

offr introduces buyer and supplier and is not a party to the sale. You can withdraw the car at any time before you accept an offer.

Tips for Success

Photographs:

  • More photographs answer more questions
  • Show the flaws — a buyer who finds them later is a buyer lost
  • Photograph the details a specialist looks for

Documents:

  • Have them ready before the car goes live
  • Provenance answers questions; gaps invite them

The description:

  • Be plain and accurate
  • Mention the faults
  • Keep to what you can evidence

Common Issues

"I can't upload my photos"
